Errors Linked with NAT00080 File

Overview

The NAT00080 (Client) file is one of the most critical AVETMISS files. It captures core student information, including identifiers, demographic details, and key compliance flags.

Every student reported in NAT00120 (Training Activity) or NAT00130 (Program Completed) must exist in NAT00080. If NAT00080 contains errors, your AVETMISS submission will fail validation, even if enrolments and outcomes are correct.

Why NAT00080 is Critical ?

NAT00080 defines who the student is.
If this file is incorrect or incomplete, multiple downstream files may fail validation, including:

  • NAT00120
  • NAT00130
  • Survey-related reporting

Ensuring NAT00080 accuracy is a prerequisite for successful AVETMISS submission.

Common NAT00080 Validation Errors

Error 4619 – Invalid Client Identifier

This error occurs when the Client Identifier (Student Number) contains spaces or invalid symbols that are not permitted by AVETMISS.

Resolution in TEAMS
  1. Navigate to the Student Dashboard
  2. Select Edit Student Details
  3. Review the Student Number
  4. Remove any spaces or invalid characters
  5. Save your changes

Once updated, the error should be resolved when the NAT files are reprocessed.

Error 4731 – Invalid or Missing Survey Contact Status

This error occurs when the Survey Contact Status field is Blank, or Contains an invalid value for students who are 15 years or older as at 31 December of the collection year.

This field is mandatory for eligible students and must use valid AVETMISS codes.

Resolution in TEAMS
  1. Navigate to the Student Dashboard
  2. Under the Compliance tile, select Edit icon next to AVETMISS Information.
  3. Choose a valid Survey Contact Status from the dropdown
  4. Save your changes

By ensuring Student Numbers are valid and Survey Contact Status is correctly recorded, you can resolve these errors and prevent downstream AVETMISS validation failures.

Always re-export files after making changes, as previously exported files will not reflect updated data.
